Recap by phillip woo

Kaholo Angel just overhauled long-time leader Happy Fat Cat after switching off heels for a clear run 150m out for a fourth win from 23 starts. He relished a return to the Valley 1,200m after placing second in two of five straight Sha Tin runs. Happy Fat Cat wouldn't go down without a fight after clearing to the lead from gate nine. He was able to hold his form following a last-start win. Victory Sky found a couple just too good after a boxseat run. It was a positive first effort over the Valley 1,200m after staying on for minor cheques in four of six straight runs at Sha Tin. Nordic Dragon ran on well for fourth without threatening the top three after making his run fourth last from gate seven. He hasn't won in ages but can produce a positive effort now and then over this course and distance. Favourite King Of Fighters didn't find much when the race got serious following a speed-tracking run from gate two. The change in tactics backfired after coming from better than midfield for seconds in two prior starts. Find My Love stayed on all right after a wide trip without cover parked midfield from gate 11.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (561) - KYOTO HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 KAHOLO ANGEL (H216) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 VIEW OF THE WORLD (J348) Z Purton Near the 900 Metres commenced to race keenly and shifted out abruptly when being steadied away from TAI VICTORY.

The performance of VIEW OF THE WORLD, which failed to respond to the riding of Z Purton in the Home Straight, was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.

Before being allowed to race again, VIEW OF THE WORLD will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 BEAUTY INFINITY (H377) R Kingscote A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, BEAUTY INFINITY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Noted to have lost its left hind plate after the race.

Horse No 4 ROMANTIC SON (J537) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 900 Metres was hampered when taken wider by VIEW OF THE WORLD.

After the event, H Bentley stated that he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages to offset the wide draw.

He said after being forced wider by VIEW OF THE WORLD near the 600 Metres his mount was obliged to race very wide and without cover thereafter and as a result was unable to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 HAPPY FAT CAT (G166) A Hamelin Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 KING OF FIGHTERS (K174) B Avdulla After the event, B Avdulla stated that the instructions were to go forward and endeavour to lead if possible.

He added that KING OF FIGHTERS finished the race off only fairly and, in his opinion, may be better suited by being ridden in a more conservative manner in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 FIND MY LOVE (H110) J Orman Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 9 KING MILES (J158) L Hewitson From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

When questioned, L Hewitson stated that from the outside barrier his instructions were to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.

He said after settling back in the field, making the Home Turn he elected to follow VIEW OF THE WORLD into the race as he felt this runner would provide him with the best opportunity to improve into the event.

He said when VIEW OF THE WORLD did not improve as he had expected he became held up for clear running behind that runner and unable to improve between VIEW OF THE WORLD and TAI VICTORY when he was of the opinion there was not sufficient room to do so.

He said as a result KING MILES was held up for clear running between the 300 Metres and the 200 Metres and after shifting to the outside of TAI VICTORY he was able to ride his mount along for a short distance.

He added after improving behind FIND MY LOVE near the 150 Metres he elected to commence to improve to that runner's inside to secure clear running but when FIND MY LOVE shifted in, he became awkwardly placed behind that runner and as a result he was obliged to steady his mount and shift to the outside of FIND MY LOVE where it secured clear running passing the 100 Metres.

After considering L Hewitson's explanation, the Stewards found the tactics that he adopted were reasonable in the circumstances.

Horse No 10 TAI VICTORY (K124) L Ferraris In the early stages raced keenly when being steadied to obtain a position with cover.

Near the 200 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when held up behind BEAUTY INFINITY.

Horse No 11 VICTORY SKY (J540) K C Leung Making the first turn near the 1000 Metres lay out.

Near the 900 Metres was then steadied when momentarily crowded by KING OF FIGHTERS which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.

Horse No 12 WRITTEN CASA (J305) K Teetan Near the 900 Metres was steadied and shifted in to avoid VIEW OF THE WORLD.
