Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up when being shifted to the outside of RED LION to obtain clear running.

Ka Ying Rising tracked the speed from the widest draw in the nine-horse field, claimed the lead 250m out and was too smart to make it 11 wins from 13 starts. Helios Express just held off stablemate Howdeepisyourlove for second after a one-off trip from midfield. Howdeepisyourlove made it close for second after coming off the fence in midfield for a clear run 250m out. It was another honest performance. Beauty Eternal got going late near the outside for fourth without threatening the top three after a patient ride one from the rear. It was a better effort following a change in tactics. Red Lion just plodded when asked for an effort after a one-out, one-back run. He's not good enough at this level. California Spangle faded after dictating the pace from gate seven. He's not the same horse this season. Invincible Sage failed after a box-seat run. He didn't handle the rise in trip. Patch Of Theta never came on from near the rear. He's met his match in back-to-back Group Ones.
