At 38 years old, Muay Thai icon Nong-O Hama is not ready to fade quietly into the shadows. Instead, the multiple-time world champion and the inaugural ONE Championship bantamweight Muay Thai king is making one final push for greatness – this time at flyweight.

After losing three of his past four bouts at bantamweight, Nong-O is cutting down in weight for what he calls his “last dance”.

His first test at flyweight comes at ONE Fight Night 28 on Saturday against Kongthoranee Sor Sommai, a highly skilled Muay Femur stylist who is 10 years his junior and ranked fourth in the division.

With the ONE flyweight Muay Thai title vacant, a victory in Bangkok could put Nong-O in immediate contention for yet another world championship.

“I think I am prepared for this fight very well,” Nong-O told the Post. “I’m not nervous. I think everything is going according to plan.”

Despite his legendary status, Nong-O acknowledges that Kongthoranee presents a real challenge. The Thai veteran has built a reputation on dismantling younger opponents throughout his storied career, but he remains cautious of his upcoming foe.
