Hong Kong driver arrested after crane hits overhead cable for light rail services
MTR Corp says services gradually resuming in Tin Shui Wai as damage is repaired following disruption

A Hong Kong driver has been arrested after his crane truck hit an overhead cable for MTR light rail trains, paralysing some services.
Police said they received a report at 7.04am from the 41-year-old driver, surnamed Poon, that his crane truck was believed to have struck the overhead cable between the stops of Tin Yuet and Tin Wing as he drove along Tin Wah Road.
The driver, who passed a breathalyser test, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a preliminary investigation.
No injuries were reported.
The MTR Corp said it was forced to halt light rail services at the Tin Yuet stop, as the power supply had been affected.
The company said two light rail routes – 705 and 706 – were diverted to bypass stops between Tin Heng and Tin Shui Wai, while route 751 would not stop between Chestwood and Tin Shui Wai.
