‘Two sessions’ 2025: Hong Kong delegates told to be ‘active players’ in city
Xia Baolong tells Hong Kong delegates to China’s top political advisory body to ‘not just be observers’ to support city’s development

Xia Baolong, director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO), also asked the city’s delegates to keep faith in and make good use of the “one country, two systems” governing principle as Beijing would always uphold it, and not to worry too much about the government deficit, according to Ho Hon-kuen.
The office said in a statement issued after the meeting that Xia had called on Hong Kong CPPCC members to diligently and actively exercise their duty in political consultation, accurately implement the one country, two systems principle and fully support the local administration’s governance.
Xia also asked the members to promote Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity and stability to contribute more to the country’s development and rejuvenation.
Ho, one of 184 Hong Kong delegates at the event, said Xia did most of the talking during the meeting.
