Hong Kong visibility falls below 3km as humidity lingers ahead of cold snap
Forecaster says visibility to remain low on Saturday too as humid easterly airstream hits coast of Guangdong
Visibility in Hong Kong is expected to be low on Friday and Saturday under the influence of a humid easterly airstream, as the city braces for a cold front over the weekend.
Meanwhile, a “blood moon” is set to cast a red glow over many parts of the world during a total lunar eclipse on Friday, but the rare phenomenon might not be visible in the city as it will happen during the day.
The Hong Kong Observatory said that visibility was rather low on Friday morning and would remain the same on Saturday as the humid airstream was affecting the coast of Guangdong.
“The visibility in the harbour fell below 3km once. Besides, a band of clouds is covering the coastal areas and the northern part of the South China Sea,” the forecaster said.
It added that the trough of low pressure affecting the northern part of southern China was expected to develop into a cold front and would edge southwards towards the coastal areas on Saturday.
