A cold front is expected to sweep across Hong Kong this weekend, with temperatures dipping to as low as 15 degrees Celsius (59 Fahrenheit) on Sunday and falling even further next Monday.

The Hong Kong Observatory also said that temperatures on Thursday had risen to about 27 degrees in the urban areas at around noon, and a couple of degrees higher in parts of the New Territories.

But a cold front is expected to move across the coastal areas overnight on Saturday and bring a few showers to the region, alongside thunderstorms over inland areas.

“Under the persistent influence of the associated northeast monsoon, it will become cool over the coastal areas on Sunday,” the forecaster said.

“Temperatures will fall progressively. The minimum temperatures will be around 14 degrees in the morning early next week.”
