Who is Alanis Morissette’s rapper husband, Souleye? He says he got his stage name from a ‘spirit guide’ while in a trance state, and he’s released 12 studio albums, some featuring the ‘Ironic’ singer

Three decades after the release of Alanis Morissette’s multi-Grammy-winning album Jagged Little Pill, the Canadian-American singer is being sued for failing to credit one of her alleged co-writers.
Joseph Michael Hunt, who filed the lawsuit in November 2024, claims he received no credit for helping to write the hit album, which officially only names Morissette and lyricist Glen Ballard as songwriters, per RadarOnline. “Alanis has been asked for years to return my intellectual properties. She hasn’t,” he alleged, adding: “Alanis sold her soul long ago … My opinion of her is she is a talented bully.”
Morissette didn’t respond to the court summons, and asked for the case to be dismissed in January. Meanwhile, she is continuing her work as a self-proclaimed “wholeness advocate” and supporting her husband – hip-hop artist Mario “Souleye” Treadway – as he releases new music.
So, what do we know about Souleye – who Morissette told Self in 2019 “has never had an issue with being married to an alpha woman”?
