After a sudden cold snap at the end of March, spring finally looks to be on the way in Hong Kong. Regardless, these new cafes have something to offer coffee lovers whatever the weather.
From new branches of well-loved chains to a coffee newcomer, pin these spots on your map for when a pick-me-up is needed.
It is also worth mentioning that two coffee festivals will take place over consecutive weekends in April. The first is Coffee Mania Festival in Tsim Sha Tsui from April 12-13.
For its 11th edition, the festival will take over Salisbury Garden near the Avenue of Stars. It will feature more than 50 Hong Kong and regional coffee brands as well as a market, workshops and talks.

There will also be a series of coffee competitions, with 120 baristas showing off their roasting and brewing skills. Entry is free between 10am and 8pm each day.
The following weekend, the Coffee Hong Kong x Tokyo Coffee Festival will be held at West Kowloon Art Park.
The four-day event will run from April 18-21 and will feature more than 100 coffee and lifestyle vendors, including award-winning cafes from Tokyo, Taiwan and mainland China.
Visitors can buy single-day or four-day passes, with prices ranging from HK$40 to HK$570 (US$5 to US$73) for those inclusive of tasting tokens and souvenirs.

1. Fineprint
In a matter of months, the area around the intersection of Pedder Street, Queen’s Road Central and Wyndham Street has gone from having a lack of quality coffee spots to gaining several new ones.
Joining recent openings Islet Coffee, Servo and Arabica is the newest branch of Fineprint, in the historic Pedder Building.

Just like Fineprint’s other branches, this one opens far earlier than most coffee shops, at 6am, making it perfect for those who start their day early at the office or the gym.

The original KLF Coffee in Wan Chai is known for its affordable coffee – the name is an acronym for a Cantonese slang phrase referring to being extremely poor – and its new Quarry Bay location is no different.
The shop is takeaway only, but who can complain when a black coffee costs HK$25 (US$3) and a white coffee HK$28?

3. Intention Coffee
With its welcoming forest-green facade and large windows that open out onto the street, Intention Coffee on High Street in Sai Ying Pun is a new spot particularly popular among coffee drinkers with pets.
Stop by for the opera cake and a coconut latte. The cafe also serves brunch items and salads.

Lungo – named after the Italian word for an espresso made with a “long” extraction time – is adding to its branches in Cheung Sha Wan, Fortress Hill, Wan Chai and Sheung Wan with a new location in Mong Kok.
The stylish cafe has partnered with independent bakery Middle Bakery to offer sweet baked goods such as tiramisu scones to go with its coffee.
